Finding the right name is one of the first, and most fun, decisions you’ll make. Tell us what your business does, where you work, and the style you like, and we’ll suggest names, each with a matching .com idea you can check in one click.
Your ideas and saved names stay on this device. Checking a domain opens our store in a new tab.
How to use it
- Describe your business in a word or two, such as "bakery", "plumbing" or "dog grooming".
- Add your city or area for local name ideas, and a word you’d like in the name, such as your family name.
- Choose a style: simple and professional, friendly, local, premium, or bold and modern. Select Show more ideas for fresh suggestions.
- Save the names you like to your shortlist, and check each domain.
- Use this name saves it to your free Brand Kit, so your website, business cards and flyers use it automatically.
What makes a good business name
- Easy to say and spell. If customers hear it once, can they type it correctly?
- Says what you do, or at least doesn’t confuse people, especially for local services.
- Room to grow. "Austin Lawn Mowing" may feel limiting if you add landscaping or move.
- Available: in your state’s business records, as a trademark, as a domain and on social media.
Frequently asked questions
Is the name available if the .com is available?
Not necessarily. Also search your state’s business name database and the USPTO’s free trademark search, which the shortlist links to. A domain can be free while another business uses the name.
Do I have to register my business name?
If you form an LLC or corporation, your state registers the name. Sole proprietors using a name other than their own usually file a DBA ("doing business as") with their county or state.
Is this tool free?
Yes. Your ideas and shortlist are saved on your device only.
