What the checkup measures
| Area | Points | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | 25 | For local businesses, it’s often the first thing customers see in search and maps |
| Website | 22 | Your home base: the one place you fully control |
| Reviews | 20 | Most customers read reviews before choosing a local business |
| Listings and consistency | 13 | Matching details across maps and directories build trust with customers and search engines |
| Social media | 8 | Shows you’re active and gives customers another way to find you |
| Staying in touch | 12 | Fast replies and regular updates turn interest into sales and repeat business |
Each question is worth points based on its impact. A claimed Google Business Profile, a website on your own domain, asking every customer for a review and replying to inquiries quickly carry the most weight.
How your action plan is built
Every "No" and "Not sure" becomes a task. Tasks are ranked by impact compared with effort, so quick fixes that make a big difference come first:
- This week: your top three tasks, usually free and fast.
- Next 30 days: the next five.
- Later: everything else, often bigger projects like building or improving a website.
Each task links to the Advanton guide that explains how to do it. Choose Save as PDF to keep your plan, and retake the checkup in a few months to see your progress.
What your score means
- 90 to 100: Excellent. Your basics are covered. Keep them fresh with regular posts, photos and review requests.
- 70 to 89: Strong. A few fixes will put you ahead of most local competitors.
- 40 to 69: On your way. You have a foundation; your action plan shows where the biggest gains are.
- Below 40: Getting started. Good news: many of the most valuable fixes are free and take less than an hour.
Tips for improving your score
- Start with your Google Business Profile. It’s free, and completing it is often the fastest way to get more calls.
- Make asking for reviews a habit. Send a direct link by text or email after every job or visit.
- Fix inconsistent details. An old phone number or address on one listing can send customers to the wrong place.
- Reply quickly. Many customers contact several businesses and choose whoever answers first.
- Do a little every week. Thirty minutes a week on your online presence beats a big push once a year.
