Turn a Word document into a PDF in seconds. Unlike most online converters, this one works entirely in your browser: your file is never uploaded to Advanton or anyone else, so it’s safe for contracts, invoices, resumes and other private documents.

How to convert Word to PDF
- Drop your .docx file in the box, or choose it from your computer.
- Check the preview, and pick your paper size (US Letter or A4), margins and whether to add page numbers.
- Choose Save as PDF. In the print window, set the destination to Save as PDF, turn off Headers and footers, and save.
What converts well, and what doesn’t
The converter keeps the content and structure of your document: text, headings, bold, italics, underlining, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, links and pictures.
It simplifies complex layouts. These may look different from Word, or be left out:
- Headers and footers (use the page number option instead)
- Text boxes, shapes and WordArt
- Multiple columns and exact page breaks
- Picture sizes (pictures are shown at up to 3.5 inches tall, scaled to fit)
- Custom fonts, exact spacing and colors
- Comments and tracked changes
If your document relies on precise layout, such as a designed brochure or a form, use Word’s own export instead: File > Save As (or Export) > PDF. It’s built into Word and keeps the layout exactly.
Older .doc files
This converter works with .docx files (Word 2007 and later). To convert an older .doc file, open it in Word, choose File > Save As, select Word Document (.docx), and then convert the new file.
Why convert to PDF?
- It looks the same everywhere: on phones, tablets and computers, with or without Word installed.
- It’s harder to change by accident, which matters for quotes, invoices and agreements.
- It’s the standard for sharing and printing: many forms and portals ask for PDFs.
Your privacy
Your document is read and converted by your own browser. It isn’t uploaded, stored or seen by Advanton. When you close the page, the converted copy is gone.
