Planning a business means answering the same questions in order: what to call it, how to set it up, what it costs to open, what to charge, how many sales cover the bills, and how to pay for it all. The Business Planner walks you through each step, carries your numbers from one step to the next, and finishes with a one-page plan you can print or share.
How the planner works
- Work through the steps in order, or jump to any step with the tabs at the top. Each step works on its own, too.
- Your answers carry forward. Your startup costs can become your loan amount, your running costs and loan payment can become your break-even costs, and your plan fills in from everything you’ve decided. You choose each time; nothing is overwritten without a click.
- Watch your plan take shape in the summary at the top of every step.
- Finish with your one-page plan, ready to print for a lender, a partner or yourself.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to create an account?
No. Everything is saved on your device as you go, so you can stop and come back later on the same device and browser.
Is a one-page plan enough for a bank loan?
It’s a strong start, and it shows you’ve done the math. Lenders and SBA programs often ask for more detail, such as financial projections and personal financial statements; your one-page plan makes writing those much easier.
Can I change my answers later?
Yes. Go back to any step, change it, and the summary updates. Use the "Fill in from your planner" button on your plan again to fill any fields you’ve left empty.
