Here are a few things to make sure your company listing has in it once you are creating a Google My Business listing.
Consistent NAP (Name, Address and Phone Number).

A link to your website

Many times you would see that your business already exists on google but the listing is unclaimed.
Don’t worry you can still claim it and make it yours once you signup.
After you signup it’s pretty smooth and straightforward to manage all the information and your listing.
1. Get Started – The very first step to create a google business listing
If you are new to Google My Business, then head to the Google My Business website on desktop, and click the Start Now button.
You can use your existing gmail account or create a new google business account.
Remember, all of google’s products and web services are accessible through a single account.
But still it’s your choice if you would like to signup for a new google account.
After you are logged into your new google account, click the button as in the image at the bottom right of your screen.
Then the next step is to start typing your business name and google will check if there’s already a page on Maps.
If you find your business on the drop down list, simply click it to continue.
If you can’t see your business on the list, continue adding information about your business so that your listing can be created.
As we had mentioned above that it is possible you may see your business on the list, but someone else has already claimed and verified this listing.
No need to worry, if you’re the legal owner of the business simply clicks Request ownership and follows the on screen directions to claim your business.

2. Verify your Business on Google
Verification of your business listing is very important as it helps google know that your business is genuine and you are the owner of it.
It not only helps google in identifying genuine businesses but customers also love to visit you knowing that you are a trustworthy business.
There are 3 different methods that are most common for verifying your Google My Business Listing:
- Verify by Phone (SMS or Call) – If your Google Business listing is new then you may not get this option.
- Verify using your Email – You not see this option available if your listing is new.
- Verify via Post Card Method – This is the most common method in which Google sends a post card with a secret code to the address that you have provided in your listing.
Once you receive the post card (it takes 5 – 15 days) simply login to you google my business account and enter code and your business becomes verified on gogole.
What about the Mobile Users?
Well, it’s pretty simple to create Google My Business Listing or manage an existing listing that you had created earlier using your Desktop.
Mobile Apps are offered by google itself.
You can download the google my business app from the play store or the app store. It is very handy to manage all your business information and google listing from the app.
3. The next and the most step is to check all the information you’ve entered is correct:
You want to make sure that all the information is correct about your business before it goes live on google. You can also edit and update:
- First thing is to Click ‘Verify Later’. It will help you in reviewing all the details before submitting your listing for the verification.
- If you have multiple locations for your business then, click manage location for the specific location that you would like to edit.
- The Click info at the top of the page to edit any specific section of your Google Business listing and update it.
- When you are done with editing, simply click ‘Done editing’ at the bottom of the page.
If all looks good to you about your business information you can go to the Step number 2 mentioned above for verifying your business listing.
