Profitable businesses still run out of cash when bills land before customers pay. A 13-week cash flow forecast shows you, week by week, how much cash you’ll have, so you can spot a tight week months ahead and do something about it.

How to use it
- Enter your cash in the bank today and the minimum cushion you never want to drop below, such as one month of fixed costs.
- Add money in: the sales you expect to collect each week (when cash arrives, not when you invoice).
- Add money out: payroll, rent, suppliers, loan payments, taxes and other bills. Use Quick fill for regular amounts, then adjust individual weeks.
- Read the chart: the lowest week is outlined, weeks below your cushion turn amber, and weeks below zero turn red.
- Update it every week, replacing the oldest week with a new one, and download a CSV for your records or accountant.
Frequently asked questions
Why 13 weeks?
Thirteen weeks is one quarter: long enough to see problems coming, short enough to forecast with reasonable accuracy.
What if a week goes below zero?
Act early: collect deposits, invoice sooner, ask suppliers for longer terms, delay non-urgent purchases, or arrange a line of credit before you need it.
What’s the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a share of the price; markup is profit as a share of the cost. A 50% markup is a 33% margin. The calculator below the forecast shows both.
